Dear Leduc Curling Club Members,
In these unprecedented times we have all come to truly appreciate how much things, such as coming to
the club for an evening of sportsmanship and socialization, have meant to each of us and all of our
members. Each and every member is treasured by the Leduc Curling Club. In this difficult year, you made
the decision to support, and participate in, the sport we all love despite the challenges such participation
would entail. Old friendships were renewed and new friendships were created. We are extremely proud
of how our members, staff and curling community have come together, made the best of difficult times
and continued to foster a passion for curling despite new health measures and modified rules.
Following the Government of Alberta’s announcement on January 29, 2021, the Board of Directors have
made the difficult decision to close the club for the remainder of 2020-2021 curling season. With the
government’s phased reopening and gradual easing of restrictions, the earliest possible opportunity to
resume normal operations, pursuant to the Government’s “best case scenario,” would be late March.
Given the above timeline, uncertainty of future hospitalizations and actual reopening dates it was decided
that ending the 2020-2021 curling season effective immediately was in the Leduc Curling Club’s best
interest. Accordingly, all Leduc Curling Club members are entitled to a 50% refund or a 50% credit
towards the 2021-2022 curling season.
Like most businesses in Alberta, we too have experienced first-hand the financial challenges brought on
by the Covid-19 Pandemic. Thus, we kindly ask, if you are able, that you consider donating your 50% refund
or credit back to the club. As non-profit organization, this act of generosity would greatly aid in keeping
the Leduc Curling Club financially viable following this difficult season. A tax receipt can be made available
to members who wish to donate their league fees back to the club. Please stay tuned for further
information regarding tax receipts.
We thank you for your patience, understanding and support, and look forward to welcoming everyone
back for the 2021-2022 curling season. All members requesting a:
▪ 50% refund;
▪ 50% credit towards their 2021-2022 league fees; or
▪ donation tax receipt;
must notify the Leduc Curling Club manager, Daryl Huff, on or before 4:00 PM on Monday, February 22,
respond by the deadline will result in your 50% refund/credit being deemed a donation to the Leduc
Curling Club.
