Welcome to the 2016-2017 Junior Curling Season!!
We are looking forward to a very exciting year. Please register in person at our annual registration/information meeting on Thursday, September 15 at 7:00 pm in the Western Bank Room of the Leduc Recreation Centre.
As our junior curlers advance, our Coach and board do their best to ensure that the program evolves with them. Curlers will be separated into two groups:
– First Session will be for first time and second year curlers at least 7 years of age as of October 1.
– Second Session will be for curlers with a least 2 years prior curling experience in our program. We will separate this session into sub-groups based on experience and skill.
Thursdays from 5:30-6:30pm
All Curlers must have a parent or designated adult present at the curling rink during their session.
Fees – are $150.00 per curler, if paid on September 15 at the annual registration. After September 15 the fee will be $200.00. Also, a $200.00 volunteer commitment cheque, post dated to March 1, 2017 will be held and shredded upon completion of your 4 hours of volunteer time per curler.
Team Wear – Curlers will be required to wear a team jacket. First year curlers will be provided with a jacket at no charge. Any previous curlers that have grown out of their jackets will be able to purchase a jacket a 50% off of the regular price.
Equipment – The Leduc Curling Club will have equipment available for purchase for new curlers and curlers needing to replace anything they’ve outgrown. Prices are competitive. Please call Jeff at the club 986-3553 to arrange a time to stop by.
Headgear – The Leduc Junior Curling Club is in the process of developing a headgear policy. More information will be available on the policy at our AGM on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 7:00pm.
There are many opportunities to complete your volunteer hours during the season. These include participating as a member of the board, on ice helper, and other special events; such as bonspiels, that come up throughout the season. We will no longer be allowing bingos to be worked as your volunteer hours. As all our junior events require volunteers, the board has found that those 4 hours really need to be committed to the junior club. You will be notified of these opportunities via email as they come up. The Leduc Junior Curling Board is made up entirely of volunteers. Without volunteers we would not have a program with such a large following. We do have some positions available on the board that need filling for the upcoming season. If you are interested please email the junior club at firstname.lastname@example.org or sign up at registration night.
The following are important dates to mark on your calendars:
October 6 First Day of Curling
November 19 Inter-Club Bonspiel (morning only)
December 22 Last Curling Session before Christmas
January 12 First Day of Curling for the NEW YEAR!
